2014 December Income Report

Hi! I’m so glad to be back here with you after a nice long Winter Break. I was worried that my break would have a huge impact on pageviews and income. I was partly right. There was an impact, but I wouldn’t say it was huge. There will probably be a dip in January as well. Despite all of that, I’m looking forward to getting back into the groove and pushing Bread & With It to its highest potential!

December Traffic – 8,411 pageviews

Google Analytics

Despite my break, there was still a decent amount of traffic coming in. It was encouraging to know that the website was able to sustain itself without my constant care and nurturing. It’s like having a child. In the beginning when your blog is a newborn it takes a lot just to keep it alive, but in time it doesn’t take as much of your constant attention. You may even get a sitter, and go on a date. Which is… kind of what my Winter Break was like. Ok, maybe my comparison is a little cheesy, but you get the point.

December Income – $83.29

Not bad for taking a break! Ok… it feels a little like cheating, by including my “other” income. It would have been $33.29. The only reason for the increase was because of the check I received for one of my patterns back in November. I’m sure January will be around the $30 price range because of my long Winter Break. I have to say though… $30 for not doing very much… I’ll take it! Michael and I can go on a much-needed date for that!

Other – $50.00

Stitch and Unwind contacted me a few months ago to make a pattern for their website. I am still really excited and honored for this opportunity. I made and gave them a crochet Vintage Pixie Dress pattern to go with my matching Vintage Pixie Hat pattern. It was a great experience, and I would do it again in a heartbeat!

Google Adsense – $20.45

I don’t know what to say other than… go Google! My main steam roller! 😀

Amazon Associates – $7.22

I’m noticing Amazon sales going down, down and down some more. I need to turn my focus towards encouraging those sales. These are just my thoughts as I’m typing up this income report. There are some new things coming on the horizon, so I don’t know if Amazon is going to be my main focus.

BlogHer – $3.92

BlogHer is floating around the same numbers as previous months. I’m feeling a bit discouraged considering that they are very particular about how to display their ads. I cannot have ads above the fold, yet I’m not getting the payout from BlogHer that I would from other ad networks. I’m also unable to take part in sponsored posts, and a few other ways of driving income. It’s all a part of their terms, but for $3.92 a month… I’m not getting compensated enough for the other options I’m turning away. We’ll see how long this relationship continues. I would like to see it go far, so I’m not going to make any hasty decisions anytime soon.

Sovrn – $1.70

I’m going to give Sovern a little more time before I “throw in the towel”. I did increase my floor price, but really it’s just not paying out as much as it should. I will never see a check from them at this rate.

Well it was a nice break, but it’s time to get back to work!
